Course Withdrawal Deadline is Friday 11/20
The deadline for students to withdraw from fall courses is Friday, November 20. Withdrawal forms are available for printing from the Registrar’s Web site. After securing her instructor’s signature, the student must submit the form to the Registrar’s Office by 5pm on Friday. A “W” grade will be assigned. Call 538-2025 or email for more information.

Deadline for Requesting Ungraded Option

Financial Literacy Workshops Offered
Students are invited to four financial literacy workshops to be held at the CDC. Learn about successful budget planning, establishing good credit, default prevention, choosing a loan, and avoiding identity theft. Starting on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, repair work is scheduled to start on the Route 116 cross walk opposite Skinner. Work is expected to be finished in approximately one week. Even though there will be a police officer helping direct traffic, please use extra caution when crossing Route 116 in this location.

Motor Vehicle Theft 10/5/2009
On October 5, 2009, a student reported that her car, a blue Honda Civic, was stolen from in front of the Mandelles between 6:40pm and 9:40pm Monday night. Computer Use Policy Reminder
The College has adopted a Policy on Responsible Use of Computing Resources to provide guidance to members of the community. Two areas deserve particular emphasis: peer-to-peer file sharing software should in general not be used on College computers; and downloading of confidential information on laptops, PDA’s, flash drives and other portable devices should be avoided. Drop (and Ungraded for non-first-yrs) Deadline
Wednesday, September 30, is the deadline for any student who wishes to drop a course, without trace, from her Fall 2009 schedule. Additionally, it is the last day for all except first-years to declare the Ungraded Option to elect credit/no credit grading in a Fall course. Contact the registrar’s office if you have questions.

Up-To-Date Online Telephone Directory Access
The phone directory is accessible online. Log into webmail, go to webshell, phone directory/people search. Put in a search string. To print department, employee, or student telephone directory sections, map a network drive to: \\ambr\depts. Files are updated daily. Get up-to-date information and, if needed, print it using Word. Select the number of columns that works best. Email with questions or concerns.

Study in Senegal or France in Spring 2010

Big E Tickets
Human Resources will offer Big E tickets from September 8 - September 11 only! The fair runs September 18 through October 4. Cost is $10.00 per ticket. To purchase tickets come to Skinner Hall, Room 1.

Auditions for Individual Performance and Ensembles
Students interested in taking music lessons or ensemble performance study are required to come for an audition/interview. Audition information and appointment sign-up sheets and are located on the bulletin board in Pratt diagonally across from the Music Office. Auditions are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, 12-4 pm. Music 100 Exemption Exam
The Music 100 Exemption Exam will be given on Friday, Sept. 11 and Mon. Sept. 14 at 4 pm, Rm. 109, Pratt. Students may enroll in performance study without prerequisite, but continued study after the initial semester is dependent on exemption from or enrollment in Music 100. Grant-in-Aid for Music Lessons
Students who receive financial aid from the College are eligible to apply for a grant to help pay for music lessons. Deadline for application is Friday, Sept. 11, 4 pm. Applications are available in the Music Office or online.

Orchestra Auditions
To arrange an audition for the Fall 2009 orchestra please see the orchestra audition sign up sheet on the bulletin board outside of the music office on the first floor of Pratt Hall. Auditions are private, user-friendly and will be held during the first week of classes, September 8 - 12. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, September 15. Class of 2010 Convocation schedule
Seniors, breakfast begins at 10 am in the Blanchard Great Room. Line up for Convocation begins at 11 am. Meet your classmates at the island outside of Porter. Student Vehicle Registration
To register your vehicle, log into ISIS and select “Register for a parking decal”. Register online by September 10 and save $15. Park ONLY in student spaces. Parking Office hours are: September 8 (Tues) through September 11 (Fri) 8:30 - 5; hours from September 14 on are Monday through Friday 8:30 - 4. South Hadley Water District Notice
The College received a notice from South Hadley Water District 2 on September 1st regarding drinking water quality test results from mid August. While no corrective action is needed, the notice is posted on the EH&S web site for your information.

Add/Drop starts Wednesday 9/2
Students who need to make fall registration changes may use ISIS to do so starting Wednesday September 2. Advisor approval is required first. (Most non-new students already have approval. Blanchard Cafe will be closed Thursday, August 27th and Friday, August 28th for cleaning. We will reopen Monday 8/31 from 11:30a-2:00pm.

Ramadan Suhoor and Iftar Preregistration Required
Ramadan Suhoor & Iftar Suhoor will be offered before Dawn each morning in Eliot House and Iftar in the Wilder Dining Hall after sundown starting on September 6th. For One Card access to Eliot House and the Halal Kitchen, email your name and MHC ID number by September 1.

Hazardous Trees
Facilities Management will continue to remove hazardous trees this fall. A consulting arborist identified trees we can save, and those we cannot. Details will be posted soon on the Botanic Garden Web site, or email with any questions or concerns.
