While Mount Holyoke women attend graduate
and professional programs at a wide array of institutions both within the U.S.
and in other countries, certain institutions are consistently popular with our
students. The most popular universities for IR alumnae between 1991-2000 can be seen in
Figure 1.

What are the most popular fields for IR majors?
IR majors can be found in almost every field of
employment. Each year, however, certain
industries prove more popular than others.
The most popular industries represented
by the Classes 1991-2001 are, in descending order, Government/Law/Human
Resources/Social Services (21.4%), Education (includes teaching and
administration at all levels) (12.8%), Communications/Technology (11.2%),
Finance (10.7%), and Health Sciences/Medicine (2.6%) (Figure 2).
What types of jobs do IR majors attain?
Table 2 provides a list of organizations that employ IR alumnae (1991-2000). NOTE: All information below is reported directly from Alumnae Association database, with no editing.
