Welcome to the Almost All-New, Mostly Improved, Certainly More
Updated "Cindy's Crazy Page-O-Rama"!
I'll let you in on a little secret: I have totally forgotten how
to
write certain key html commands, such that I can't take down this
wretchedly outdated, outmoded webpage. I mean, these days, all the hip
kids are doing blogs, right?
But, I soldier on, confident that this is an exercise in silly
journal-keeping anyway, as no one I know has checked this thing for
years. Years, I tell you!
So, on to the real fun: links to stuff. I have grouped them into Fun,
Geeky, Cool, and Miscellaneous Affiliations, but these are editorial
suggestions. Feel free to
recategorize them in your head in ways that reflect your own preferences
and personality! Except Miscellaneous Affiliations. Those are actually
mine.
FUN
Television Without
Pity Sigh. Here is a mighty enterprise of witty people who produce
truly epic levels of snark. My TV/Movie Nitpicker's Page has committed
suicide in shame.
PhD Comicswill give you a
frighteningly accurate idea of what grad student life is like... this is
why only grad students find it funny, and then weep bitterly afterward.
The Onion is another of those
'how did I not know about this sooner?' things; also, another opportunity
to weep bitterly through your laughter at the state of the world.
I'm not trying to insinuate that you don't know about Dave
Barry, nor even trying to prove that I do, but rather, I'm putting in
this link in case you suddenly realized there was a new weekly column out,
and what are you doing reading this other webpage in the meantime?
Geeky
Homestar Runner could
very easily be filed under the Cool section, or the Fun section, but since
I couldn't decide between the two, it ended up in Geeky. Sue me.
Penny Arcade
ComicsDefinitely blame Mike for this one. Not only geeky, but
gamer-specific jokes wrapped in palpable layers of geeky.
One of the most amusing
bizarre finds I came upon when
lazily verifying a Pride and
Prejudice quote via
Google. P&P meets
Buffy the Vampire Slayer I think I need say no more.
Stephen Brust, a
fantasy writer whose
work I both love and hate (though not simultaneously), who blogs vaguely
and sporadically. I don't mind, as I'm still waiting for his next Vlad
book.
Neil Gaiman, whom I
have loved ever
since the Sandman series, and liked passionately ever since Good Omens,
Neil's blogging seems like an enterprise unto itself -- but maybe I just
don't get out enough.
Miscellaneous Affiliations
Mount Holyoke College, my
lovely alma mater, actually supports this page, though god knows they're
still waiting to see a return on their investment in me.
Cambria Biosciences took me
in while the ink on my MHC diploma was still, metaphorically,
drying. Four lovely and profitable years of grownup life and
furniture-buying later, and I somehow got the hankering to go back to
school
So then, Boston University accepted
me to their
MCBB PhD program, where I am now a second-year student, dreading the
upcoming prelims and looking forward to a life of near-poverty and
frustration -- er, academic fulfillment. If this were a blog, I would
have many fine stories about my students....
Lest you think it's all work and academics for me, feast your eyes on
Coro Allegro, the fabulous choir
in which I sing. In fact, come see our next concert!
The official Andy
Stochansky
webpage. He is an excellent musician, singer/song-writer, and all-around
cutie. Formerly Ani DiFranco's drummer. Sounds like Bono. Seriously.
Sounds like Bono, but without the "rock" feeling (not that I don't love
U2). I've seen him perform twice, and both were amazing experiences. I
could go on and on, but, uh, then you would be bored. Far better to hear
him yourself.
The Simpsons Archive Only ignorance of
its existence can excuse me for not having put up a link to this page
sooner. And I thought I knew a lot about the Simpsons. Great
links, episode capsules with a whole lot of commentary, and lists of crazy
stuff. (Ever want to know everything Troy McClure was supposedly in?
They've got it)
Acknowledgements:
I'd like to thank my wonderful boyfriend Mike, who enables my
terrible web-surfing/email- and webpage-writing habit by being hideously
addicted to various computer games of his own.
Also on my
list of thanks
(in no particular order):
My BU students, for teaching me the value of
patience and repetition,
Mount Holyoke, without which there would still be no page,
My TV, without which I would long ago have lost the will to live
My friends, family, and, gosh, all the little people....
email me!
Really!
Under Construction. Forever.

This
page last (partially) updated December 29, 2004, in a
desperate attempt to avoid studying for the prelims.
